Kathy Zavada is an ordained Interfaith minister, inspirational speaker and long-time retreat and workshop facilitator. She also is a nationally acclaimed performing / recording artist and producer of sacred music. For the past 22 years Kathy has been invited to speak, perform
music and share her message of living consciously with love and compassion
at innumerable spiritual centers, schools, retreats, workshops and special events. She recently has accepted the position as the spiritual leader and minister at Unity of Oroville and loves serving and growing with the wonderful spiritual family Unity of Oroville is.
A unique aspect of the presentation of Rev. Kathy's service is that it seamlessly weaves together sacred music, a meditation experience, and the spiritual message. Because she is both a skilled recording artist and master musician, and a deeply intuitive spiritual teacher, her services use multiple modalities to create a profoundly rich spiritual experience
Regarding her music, Kathy shares that “music is a very sacred way of transmitting something that takes us beyond the mind, into an ocean of love, a deep experience of peace, well-being, and pure presence.
Consciousness is clearly transmitted through music, and when it is refined, it has a way of going straight to the heart and melting anything that makes us feel separate from Love. As we open to love, naturally, we effortlessly feel connected, feeling our oneness with God, and with each other.
Kathy began her musical career at the age of four, auditioning for a private sing and dance nursery school in Baltimore, MD and becoming the lead singer for a show presented on television, at festivals, and for dignitaries such as the Governor. Kathy went on to become the youngest piano student accepted at the University of Florida at 13-years-old. She
graduated Summa Cum Laude in Music and Psychology.
Kathy's spiritual influences are wide and varied. Her first spiritual teacher was Michael Singer, author of The Untethered Soul, who she met in Gainesville, FL at the age of 15. Thus began her spiritual education in an Interfaith approach, learning to value and recognize Truth in many of the World Religions.
In 1991 she had a spiritual awakening that changed her life and set her on course to dedicate her daily life to living consciously, and serving humanity. She began that same year sharing music and workshops at Unity and New Thought centers and for the past 26 years has toured extensively both nationally and internationally. She has been a student of Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi), known as the Hugging Saint, since 1993, and toured
extensively in India and the US performing music for Amma's events. She recently moved from her home base in Mt. Shasta, CA to the Oroville area to serve as the minister at Unity of Oroville.
Kathy shares “I am so grateful to be living a life that allows me to use my talents and gifts in a way that brings awakened consciousness. It is a profound honor to serve here at the Unity Church of Oroville. I have dedicated my life to love and to the awakening of all beings to their true nature, and wish to be a blessing each and every moment of this precious life."
Rev.Kathy will be traveling the first half
of the month. She will be available for office hours Wednesday, January 23rd from 1-6 pm, and
Wednesday, January 30th from 1 to 6 pm.
